About SlowScreen

SlowScreen started with a simple frustration. As a parent, you want the best for your child, including when it comes to screen time. But how do you know if a series, movie or YouTube channel is actually suitable? Age labels tell you very little. "Suitable for all ages" says nothing about editing pace, emotional intensity, or the value your child gets from it.

Existing platforms offered star ratings and vague descriptions. What was missing: a well-founded, transparent assessment that shows why something does or doesn't fit a young child's development.

That's how SlowScreen was born. A platform that analyzes children's media using a combination of technology and pedagogical insight, inspired by Montessori principles and developmental research. No opinions, no popularity lists. Objective analysis of pacing, language use, emotional themes and content quality.

Why "Slow"?

The name is a deliberate choice. In a world of endless scrolling and autoplay, we want the opposite. Pause. Think. Choose consciously. Not necessarily less screen time, but better screen time. Media that nourishes imagination rather than overwhelms it.

How we work

Every title on SlowScreen is analyzed across six developmental pillars, from sensory calm and emotional safety to language quality and autonomy. We objectively measure pacing and sensory intensity. And we provide age recommendations that go beyond what the producer puts on the box.

Everything we do is transparent. You don't just see the score, but also why. No black box, no algorithm that leaves you in the dark.

Privacy as a starting point

SlowScreen collects as little data as possible. No tracking, no ads, no data trading. Child profiles work with just a date of birth, no name, no photo.
