SlowScreen is a platform that reviews children's media based on Montessori principles. We value your privacy and handle your data with care. In this policy, we explain in plain language what data we collect, why, and what your rights are.
What data do we collect?
Account data
- Email address (for login and communication)
- Password (stored encrypted, we can never view it)
Child profiles
- Your child(ren)'s birth month and year, so we can show age-appropriate content
- We never ask for your child's name, no photos and no other personal information
Usage data
- Your favorites (saved titles)
- Viewed media (for personal recommendations)
Why do we collect this data?
- Your email address and password are needed to log into your account
- Children's dates of birth are used to make age-appropriate recommendations
- Favorites and viewing history are used to improve your personal experience
How do we store your data?
Your data is stored encrypted on servers within the European Union. We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
Passwords are stored using one-way encryption (hashing). This means nobody, including us, can view your password.
Cookies
We use functional cookies that are strictly necessary for the website to function (such as your login session and selected country), and analytics cookies (Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the site.
Analytics cookies are only placed with your explicit consent. You can change your preference at any time via the cookie banner.

Third parties
We share data with the following third parties, strictly for the purposes described:
- Google Analytics (Google LLC) receives anonymized usage data to help us understand how visitors use the website. This data is only collected with your consent.
- Stripe processes payments for subscriptions. Stripe only receives the data necessary for the payment (such as your payment details). SlowScreen does not have access to your full credit card number. Read Stripe's privacy policy for more information.
We never sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not engage in profiling.
Children's privacy
SlowScreen is designed with children's privacy as a starting point:
- We never ask for names, photos, or other directly identifying data of children
- Birth months are used exclusively for age-appropriate recommendations
- Children do not use the platform themselves, only parents have an account
- We comply with the GDPR, including the additional protection for minors
How long do we keep your data?
We keep your data as long as you have an active account. When you delete your account, we delete all your personal data within 30 days. Payment data at Stripe is retained according to their own policy.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Access: you may request which data we hold about you
- Correction: you may have incorrect data corrected
- Deletion: you may request deletion of all your data
- Portability: you may receive your data in a common format
- Objection: you may object to the processing of your data
For all these requests, you can contact us. We respond within 30 days.
Changes
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. For significant changes, we will inform you by email. The most recent version is always available on this page.
