Terms of Service

SlowScreen is an online platform that reviews children's media (YouTube, Netflix, Disney+ and more) based on Montessori principles. We help parents make conscious choices about the screen time of their children aged 1 to 6.

To use SlowScreen you need an account. The following applies:

• You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential
• The information you provide (such as your email address) must be accurate, so we can reach you about your account and subscription
• Your account is personal and may not be shared with others

SlowScreen offers a free version with limited functionality and paid subscriptions with broader access.

• Payments are processed through Stripe, our payment provider
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date
• You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings
• After cancellation you keep access until the end of the current billing period
• Prices may change, but we will notify you at least 30 days in advance by email

During our launch, the first 1,000 members to activate their account receive free lifetime access to the Family plan. Because "lifetime" is a big word, here is exactly what it means:

• The access lasts for as long as SlowScreen exists as a platform. It is tied to the life of the service, not to yours. If we ever have to discontinue SlowScreen, the access ends with it
• The access is tied to your account. It is personal, cannot be transferred or sold, and ends when your account is deleted
• The access has no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money, a discount or a different plan
• If the Family plan changes name or composition, you keep access to the plan that replaces it at the same level
• We may withdraw the access if the account breaches these terms, as described under Termination

Apart from this, we ask nothing in return: no payment details, no minimum term and no automatic conversion into a paid subscription.

We expect you to use SlowScreen in a reasonable manner. This includes:

• Use the platform only for personal, non-commercial purposes
• Do not attempt to hack, scrape, or otherwise misuse the platform
• Do not make automated requests to our servers without permission
• Do not redistribute SlowScreen content without our permission

The reviews and scores on SlowScreen are based on six developmental pillars and our own assessment method. It is important to understand:

• Our scores are a tool and not a substitute for professional pedagogical or medical advice
• Every review is an opinion based on our criteria, not an objective truth
• The final choice of which media your child watches is always yours as a parent
• We do our best to keep reviews accurate and up to date, but cannot guarantee that all information is complete and correct at all times

All content on SlowScreen, including reviews, texts, images, logos, and the assessment method, is owned by SlowScreen or used under license.

You may not copy, distribute, or reuse SlowScreen content without our written permission. Thumbnails and images of media are owned by their respective rights holders and are used by us for illustrative purposes.

We do our utmost to keep SlowScreen reliable and available, but:

• We do not guarantee that the platform is always available or error-free
• We are not liable for damages arising from the use of our reviews
• We are not liable for the content on external platforms (YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, etc.) that we link to
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months

You can delete your account at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or remove accounts in case of:

• Violation of these terms
• Misuse of the platform
• Fraudulent use

When your account is deleted, your personal data is removed in accordance with our privacy policy.

We may adjust these terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you by email. By continuing to use the platform after a change, you agree to the new terms.

These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands.
