In this second part of the opening story, the unicorn Twilight Sparkle and five new pony friends travel through the dark Everfree Forest to find the Elements of Harmony and stop the villain Nightmare Moon from bringing eternal night. Along the way each pony meets a challenge that draws out a quality: honesty, kindness, laughter, generosity and loyalty. Twilight then discovers that friendship itself is the sixth element, and together the friends defeat Nightmare Moon. The villain is transformed back into Princess Luna, reconciles with her sister Princess Celestia, and Twilight stays in Ponyville to keep learning about friendship.

The Bubble Guppies, a group of preschool-age fish characters, get excited about superheroes after Gil and Molly find a comic book about Guppy Girl and Bubble Boy. After a superhero song and a visit to a pretend superhero store, their teacher Mr. Grouper reads them the comic, and that story takes over: the villain Sid Fishy is stealing smells to brew 'stink sauce' and make all of Big Bubble City stinky. Guppy Girl and Bubble Boy track him to the sky, stop him from raining stink on the city, and capture him. In jail, Sid admits he acted out because he was lonely and wanted a friend, and the heroes befriend him before the episode closes with a song.

The Yipper Caper

A scruffy stray Chihuahua named Yipper arrives at Shelter 17 sure that no one will ever adopt him. Beneath the shelter, a secret team of dogs called the Pound Puppies, led by Lucky, works to match strays with people. When a boy falls for Yipper but leaves before the busy dog catcher McLeish will handle the adoption, the dogs follow a delivery receipt to track the boy down. After McLeish's new dog-food machine misfires at a press ceremony, a young reporter convinces him that letting the boy adopt Yipper would make a good story, and Yipper finally goes home with a new name, Bob.
