Molly of Denali

Grandpa's Drum

Balanced
recommended age Unlock co-watching from 2

Molly finds an old photograph of her grandfather Nat as a boy, singing and drumming with a young girl, and learns that he no longer sings because he gave his drum away long ago. With her friend Tooey, she uses clues in the photo (mountains, a water tower, train tracks, and partial letters on a sign) to locate the town of Tiritchik and find the now-grown woman who still has the drum. The elder Shyahtsoo explains that at boarding school Native children were forbidden from singing their own songs, which is why Grandpa stopped. Molly returns the drum, and during the community show Grandpa rediscovers his songs and drums alongside her, followed by a live-action segment of Alaska Native children sharing their own traditions.

Working through the evidence step by step, they identify the newcomer and show it is harmless. The prairie dog community's worry turns to calm, and the case is closed.

Kiff arrives for her first sleepover at the Bunz family home and is welcomed as an honorary member with a hand-me-down sweater. When she learns the family takes baths in age order and she would be stuck with the fourth bath, she schemes her way up the hierarchy, making deals and tricks with each sibling to claim the first bath. Her meddling stirs up squabbles and chaos across the household, and she feels guilty enough to try to leave. The family forgives her, explains that sibling rivalry is just part of family life, and tells her she is now truly one of them.

When Mr Pig gets stuck in a bin on the parade route, Prickles reroutes the parade, secretly steering it away from headquarters because he is terrified of balloons, and the new route sends it over Windy Bridge, where the wind lifts the balloons and eventually the whole bridge into the air. Prickles admits his fear and his cover story to Splash and apologises, then lets the team launch him at the giant balloons so his spikes can pop them and bring the bridge down.
