A small red character named Jessica wants to ride a big kid bike with pedals like her friend Myra. After a discouraging fall, she asks her older brother Bernard for help, and he teaches her in stages, first balancing, then steering, then pedalling. She practises, wobbles, and falls again, but keeps going until she can ride to the park and show her friends. The episode ends with the reminder that everyone learns at their own pace.

Do the owl decides that today is the day he will finally fly, and his friends Re and Mi set aside their own plans to help. Together they try jumping from a branch, a rope tow between the treetops and a homemade catapult, and each attempt ends with Do coming back down, once into a tree and once onto a washing line. Along the way Do writes and sings a song about not quitting, and his friends add one instruction at a time: spread your wings, point your tail feathers, keep your beak straight, and flap. Do never gets airborne on his own, but he discovers he is an excellent lander and builds a target to prove it.
