The Sleepover

Balanced
recommended age Unlock co-watching from 2

Cousin Muffin arrives for a sleepover overtired after skipping her afternoon nap, just as Bluey and Bingo have been promised they can stay up late. The girls invent a string of pretend games, a restaurant, a chip shop and a police chase, partly to stretch the evening out, while Mum balances her promise against Muffin's need for sleep. Muffin grows sillier and droopier until the girls are finally sent to bed at eight o'clock. The next morning a tired Bluey wakes to find a pretend flamingo tucked into Muffin's sleeping bag.

Goldie and her friend Bear offer to look after Jack's goose, Goosey, who lays golden eggs, while Jack heads into town. Goosey escapes her cage and the pair chase her through the barn, forest and farm, trying a pie trap and a harness before Mother Goose advises them to offer her something she loves. In the end Goosey lays her biggest egg ever precisely because she was free and happy, and Jack decides to let her roam rather than keep her caged. He rewards Goldie and Bear with two golden eggs.

The Big Tree City Rescue team suspects that Major Prickles has launched his yearly secret test, so when they are sent to save a squirrel dangling from a multi-storey car park they treat the bananas, bouncing balls and giant hammer as planted traps. The rescue turns out to be a dummy, the team goes on strike, and the Major eventually admits he set it up. A second call brings a real emergency, a clown trapped inside an overinflated balloon drifting above a child's birthday party, which the team almost ignores as another trick. They turn back, bring the clown down, and the Major tells them they have finally passed secret test day.

He follows and plays with the bees, tumbles through the meadow, meets another chubby boy and pushes a large rock that rolls down a hill. Two red ants live in a sunny field of crops where discarded human objects turn into rides and obstacles. Across a string of short, wordless segments they wrestle a giant coiled spring, hitch a lift on a flying drone, raft across a pond, roll a plastic egg through the grass and end up trapped inside a jam jar on a picnic table. Birds, spiders, beetles and a frog interrupt them along the way, and a boy and his drone controller appear at the edge of their world. Each segment closes on its own comic punchline before the next one starts.

A Newt to Remember

Balanced
recommended age Unlock

Fuse smartens up in his car and drives to collect Newt for an evening out, leaving Slick standing in the road with his keys. Slick chases them through the neighbourhood, to a drive-in cinema showing a black-and-white wolf film, and on to a roadside burger stand. Out in the forest under the full moon, Newt grows fangs, pointed ears and claws, and Slick, after fleeing and then photographing her, comes back and stays. The night ends with the characters heading home in the car, yawning.
