Molly, Trini and Oscar walk home from school in an Alaska village where the winter sun sets in the early afternoon, and Oscar is sure a monster is waiting in the dark. The friends look up sunset times on a weather website, learn about the winter solstice, and try several plans to face the creature. Auntie Midge tells a story about a wolf pup who overcomes its fear of the dark by finding a pack. Emboldened by his friends, Oscar finally confronts the monster and finds it is just a large pile of snow.

Carlos has invented an instrument for a school concert, but it makes only a 'loopy' sound and he cannot fix it in time. When the magic school bus overheats, Ms. Frizzle's class ends up spending the night in what turns out to be the Sound Museum, a spooky old house where they chase mysterious noises and learn that sound is made by vibration. Guided by their questions and a living descendant of the museum's founder, Carlos works out that his instrument needs to vibrate freely, strips it down, and finally produces the sound he imagined. The episode closes with a phone call to the show's producer that reviews how sound and hearing work.

Dot's Knightly Mission! The Search for Mr

Dot sets aside the coding game she is building to help Scratch the dog find his lost chew toy, Mr. Soggy. She teams up with Hal, who is pretending to be a chivalrous knight, Ruby, who is filming a movie, and two ninja kids, and together they search the garden, backyard and basement. Reasoning that the hot day sent Scratch napping downstairs, they discover the toy in the dryer, where Mom had washed it. Hal realizes that helping his friend made him truly chivalrous, and Dot signs off to plan her next adventure.

The Spookasaurus

On a ranch where children herd dinosaurs, the young Cassidy ranchers camp out after a long day and listen to Pa's spooky campfire tale about the 'Spookasaurus'. That night the herd bolts and the children chase a runaway baby stegosaurus into the dark, passing a glowing river, burning trees and a creepy cave that all match Pa's story. Inside the cave they discover the 'monster' is the frightened baby with its foot stuck, its howl echoing strangely, so they free it and reunite it with its mother. Along the way John admits he was scared and learns that being brave means helping even when afraid.

Epic Halloween Prank Battle!

Dot sets out to finally scare her father, known in the family as the Scaremaster, during their week-long Halloween tradition. With help from her friends Ruby and Hal she stages costumes, decorations and frights, but her dad turns every attempt around and leaves his Scaremaster sticker behind. Dot's Nana then steps in with a plan, and a haunted-room setup finally makes the dad scream. At the end it is revealed that Nana was the original Scaremaster, and Dot signs off by choosing to unplug.

All Heated Up

Crown Princess Elena travels to a volcano near Avalor where a lonely rock creature named Chiroca makes the Monfuego erupt whenever he loses his temper. Against her council's vote, Elena discovers that villagers have been stealing his beloved rocks, returns them, and helps him learn to calm down by breathing through his anger. When the lava threatens the village, Chiroca stays calm and cools it, and the community accepts him as a hero. The episode ends with apologies, a friendship gift and a village party.

Four young dinosaurs, led by Tiny the triceratops, sneak into a cave that all the bigger dinos warn them to avoid, sure that a fierce monster called Shriekosaurus lives inside. As they work their way deeper, lighting glowing plants and calming their nerves with songs and jokes, they discover the 'monster' is really their friend Iggy protecting a beautiful hidden hangout. Tiny admits she was scared the whole time and coped by acting silly, and the group crosses the cave together. In the end Trey confesses he never entered the cave himself and praises his little sister as the truly brave one.

Friendship Is Magic Part 2

In this second part of the opening story, the unicorn Twilight Sparkle and five new pony friends travel through the dark Everfree Forest to find the Elements of Harmony and stop the villain Nightmare Moon from bringing eternal night. Along the way each pony meets a challenge that draws out a quality: honesty, kindness, laughter, generosity and loyalty. Twilight then discovers that friendship itself is the sixth element, and together the friends defeat Nightmare Moon. The villain is transformed back into Princess Luna, reconciles with her sister Princess Celestia, and Twilight stays in Ponyville to keep learning about friendship.

Goldie, a cheerful girl in a colourful town, builds a dinosaur costume to surprise everyone for Boysenween, a spring holiday of costumes and glowing vegetables. Because she cannot see out of the suit, neighbours mistake her for a real dinosaur and the whole town spirals into rumors and panic. The friends set traps and gather onions to stop the creature, until Goldie herself gets caught and her costume falls off. The mix-up is cleared up, everyone agrees not to jump to conclusions, and the town celebrates the holiday together.

Fins That Go Bump in the Night

During a sleepover, Max, Shark Dog and their friends watch a scary monster movie, then hear a strange noise downstairs after bedtime. Convinced a monster is in the house, they creep through the dark, get frightened and chase the creature together. Along the way they admit that everyone is scared and agree that you do not always have to be brave. The 'monster' turns out to be Max's dad, tangled in exercise bands with a popcorn bucket stuck on his head.

Will They Stop the Monster Truck?

When a 'monster truck' starts smashing through Gotham at night, the superhero Batwheels race to stop it. Their nets, traps and sneaking all fail, until Buff suggests simply talking to it. They learn the truck is Grundy, who has been acting out because of a painful nail stuck in his tire. Once they remove the nail, Grundy apologises, helps clean up the mess, and the episode closes with a song about talking things out.

Smurf-Fu

In the Smurf village and surrounding forest, Smurfette rescues Brainy from a snake using a fighting art called Smurfoo and then tries to teach it to the others. She pushes them to defend themselves alone, they rebel and plot to scare her, but a real ogre captures the group. Smurfette fights the ogre and frees her friends, and everyone realises they work best as a team. The episode ends with the Smurfs reunited and their motto restored.
