During a Harvest Festival dinner in the town of Sturdy Stone, Pinecone questions why everyone hides indoors from a Harvest Spirit no one has ever seen. She, her unicorn Pony and their friend Hawthorn set out on a nighttime quest, following an eerie moaning sound through the streets and into the swamp. They discover the sound comes from jilly-toads driven out of their flooded home by the town's heavy festival float. The town moves the float, frees the toads and celebrates together, agreeing to keep the tradition without harming the swamp.

She admits she was wrong, apologizes, and releases everyone from the oath. Alongside this, Doc putters in his workshop with his dog Sprocket, puzzling over how to sew a button onto a fried egg.

The children then study, prepare and train to try again, with Pinecone removing anything scary from her room. On the second attempt Hawthorne makes it through the night, and both families celebrate together over breakfast.

On the verge of winning, she confesses to the crowd that she used enchanted arrows and does not deserve the prize. The king makes Randolph return the trophy, and the group shares cake as Pinecone decides she would rather be herself than be like the prince.

In the end he realizes that everyone should make their own decisions and walks away from the group with his friends.

Craig and his friends Kelsey and JP find their creek coloring stump ruined with candle wax and become convinced a pair of older girls posing as witches have cursed them. After a string of small mishaps seems to confirm the curse, the kids research witchcraft and confront the girls, only to learn they are ordinary teens playing fortune cards. Craig helps one girl escape her searching dad, and in return the 'witches' agree to lift the curse. The episode ends with the friends declaring themselves under the protection of the Witches of the Creek.

Hurt and jealous, SpongeBob hides the ball and eventually runs away to sleep under a bus stop. Gary follows him there, chooses his owner over the toy, and the two head home together.
