Professor Inkling shares an unsolved mystery from his great-grandfather's travel book with the Octonauts crew, who set off in the Gup-B to investigate. A school of flying fish accidentally snatches the book, and one of them is left behind with an injured tail fin. The team brings him back to the Octopod, Peso treats him, and Tweak uses what he teaches them about pectoral fins and tail fins to modify the Gup-B so it can leap and glide. The crew finds the school again, recovers the book, and Professor Inkling adds the ending to his great-grandfather's story.

A snake rescuer named Bruce works through a busy day of call-outs, freeing snakes from a dog's bowl, a horse fence, the inside of houses, a pantry, a pool, a school playground and a manhole cover. The real rescue footage is narrated in a playful voice that adds jokes and facts about each snake. The toughest job, a snake wedged in a manhole cover, runs through the episode and is finally solved with baby oil and the help of passersby. Every rescued snake is released back into the wild, and the episode signs off heading to the next call.

Red-Bellied Piranha - Is That a Water Monster??

Junior Rangers Leo, Katie and Peo set out on the Amazon River to investigate a rumoured 'river monster', which turns out to be a shoal of red-bellied piranhas. Peo gets stranded in the water, and a long chase follows as the friends pilot their transforming vehicle, Platypus 1, through submarine and flight modes while the piranhas pursue them. Adult Ranger Rocky arrives, removes the fish and rescues the group. The episode closes with him explaining that piranhas are misunderstood rather than monsters, and that children should stay back and avoid provoking them.
