Ash arrives in Viridian City with his unconscious Pikachu and is stopped by Officer Jenny, who then rushes him to the Pokémon Center where Nurse Joy and Chansey begin emergency treatment. While waiting, Ash video-calls his mother and Professor Oak, and an angry Misty turns up demanding payment for the bicycle he wrecked. Team Rocket's Jessie, James and Meowth then attack the Center to steal Pokémon, cutting the power and unleashing Ekans and Koffing, before a recovered Pikachu blasts them away with a massive electric attack. The episode closes with Ash and Misty heading toward Viridian Forest, a narrator cliffhanger, and a Pokérap listing dozens of Pokémon names.

Smurfette rescues Brainy from being swallowed by a snake using martial arts she taught herself from a book called 'Ten Lessons of Smurfo'. Impressed, the other Smurfs ask her to teach them, but they quickly tire of the strict training and quit, then plan a prank to scare her. When a real ogre captures the Smurfs and prepares to eat them, Smurfette and the trained Smurfs fight back together. The episode closes with the group affirming that they 'make one heck of a team' and reciting 'one for Smurfs, Smurfs for all'.
