Binky, a member of the Tough Customers, is mortified when his classmate George spots him holding his mom's hand at the mall. Afraid of being called a baby, he tries to keep it secret by silencing and bribing George, while Molly and Rattles dig for clues. After a clarinet recital, Binky decides he loves his mom and will hold her hand no matter what, and his friends shrug it off as nothing unusual. He happily chooses a family dinner over a night out with his friends.

Heartthrob Hamster

Nature Cat and his animal friends are pet-sitting a neighbour's hamster, Sir Galahad, when Hal knocks the cage open and the hamster escapes into the woods, declaring he will never go back. The group sets out to track him, reading animal signs like fur, gnaw marks and trails through the forest. They reason that a thirsty hamster will head for water and corner him at a creek he cannot cross. Galahad is returned to his cage, and Squeeks adds a wheel to make him more comfortable.

Through the Looking Glasses

Arthur wakes up unable to find his glasses and has to get a new pair from an eccentric optician. When friends and neighbors start praising his new look, the attention goes to his head and he begins handing out unwanted advice, which pushes his best friend Buster away. After both boys' glasses break, Arthur promises not to let a pair of glasses change who he is, and Buster helps him find his way home. The episode closes with the show's creator demonstrating how to draw the dog Pal.

Griffon the Brush Off

Rainbow Dash's old flight-camp friend Gilda, a griffon, comes to visit Ponyville. Gilda is rude to the other ponies and especially to Pinkie Pie, who suspects she is a bully while Twilight wonders whether Pinkie is just jealous. Pinkie throws Gilda a party full of harmless pranks, and Gilda loses her temper and insults everyone. Rainbow Dash takes her Ponyville friends' side, Gilda leaves, and Twilight writes to Princess Celestia about staying a good friend even when others are not.

Friendship Is Magic Part 2

In this second part of the opening story, the unicorn Twilight Sparkle and five new pony friends travel through the dark Everfree Forest to find the Elements of Harmony and stop the villain Nightmare Moon from bringing eternal night. Along the way each pony meets a challenge that draws out a quality: honesty, kindness, laughter, generosity and loyalty. Twilight then discovers that friendship itself is the sixth element, and together the friends defeat Nightmare Moon. The villain is transformed back into Princess Luna, reconciles with her sister Princess Celestia, and Twilight stays in Ponyville to keep learning about friendship.

Clumsy Not Clumsy

Clumsy Smurf is captured by the sorcerer Gargamel, who tricks him into taking a magic amulet that makes the wearer the opposite of what they are, secretly using it to track the Smurf village. When Clumsy returns home graceful, Gargamel follows the amulet and cages the Smurfs, planning to cook them. The Smurfs escape through Brainy's stalling and Clumsy's own clumsiness, which turns out to be exactly what foils the villain. The story ends with Clumsy accepting himself, deciding that 'having two left feet isn't so bad after all.'

Trumptus Lost

Mia is a girl at a boarding school who is teased by a classmate, Violetta, over her mysterious book. The book carries her into Centopia, a fantasy world of elves, unicorns and fairies, where she and the elves Yuko and Mo try to recover a magical horn called the trumptus. The villains General Gargona and Queen Panthea capture them and destroy the horn, scattering its pieces across the land. Mia returns to the real world discouraged and is comforted by her friend Vincent.

Wimpy Smurf's Strength

Wimpy Smurf brags he is stronger than Hefty and challenges him to a 'Smurf Off' obstacle course. Wimpy wins the first round when Hefty slips, earns the new name 'Heftier', and gloats. Smurfette dresses as a fortune teller named Cassandra and predicts a meteorite will fall on the strongest Smurf, scaring Wimpy into throwing the rematch so Hefty wins. The trick is revealed, then a real rock falls from the sky and Wimpy shouts in time for Hefty to dodge.
