He and Brainy steal a spellbook from Gargamel and apply a magic cream that overnight transforms Hefty into a giant living nose. The other Smurfs use a pepper trap to make him sneeze and capture him in a cage so he stays safe until the spell wears off. The closing scene shows Hefty back in his bed, still partly transformed, with Papa Smurf noting it could take a few more days.
