In this episode of The Hoobs, four puppet friends, Iver, Tula, Groove and Roma, set out to answer one question: how can they get a star to hang in their Hoobmobile? They try to catch a falling star, learn from Roma that the sun is a star and that stars are far too hot to hold, and visit real children who show them how to catch and craft. After a story about a speck of light that learns to twinkle by being kind, the Hoobs make their own star and give it a sparkly twinkle, then present it on their 'Hoob News'. Iver ends the day by catching a falling star of his own.

The Chicken Problem

Peg and her cat are spending a sunny day on a farm when Cat accidentally leaves the chicken coop open and all one hundred chickens escape. With help from a pig and their friend Ramone, they try several ways to round the chickens up before the farmer notices, from carrying them by hand to holding a chicken race. They finally succeed by sorting the chickens and wheelbarrows by size, matching big with big and small with small. The chickens end up safe back in the coop and everyone joins the picnic, singing about numbers and sizes.

Challenge of the Samurai

In Viridian Forest, Ash and Misty meet Samurai, a self-proclaimed expert trainer who has been waiting to challenge anyone from Pallet Town to a Pokémon match. Their battle stretches into a long Metapod versus Metapod standoff until a Beedrill swarm, summoned by a Weedle Ash failed to catch, drives everyone to flee. Ash leaves Metapod behind in the panic, then returns to apologise, and Metapod evolves into Butterfree just in time to put the Beedrill to sleep. The episode closes with Samurai pointing the way to Pewter City and a Poké Rap montage of collectible Pokémon names.
