As they move and talk, Carl slowly realises the shirt did not shrink, he has grown. Stillwater tells him the story of Nani, a hermit crab who learns to leave her outgrown shell for a new one. In the end Carl accepts a bigger hand-me-down shirt from his brother Michael and joins Stillwater for one last Tai Chi move.

Lyla, a girl who solves problems step by step with her blue companion Stu, joins a classroom project to build model spaceships with a partner. She teams up with Joey, a new boy, on a water-powered rocket, but Joey keeps going quiet and slipping away whenever the group gets big. Over two days Lyla realizes Joey feels shy in crowds, and she finds ways to include him one person at a time while they work out why their rocket won't fly. The episode ends at the park, where they seal a leak in the bottle and launch their spaceship together with the whole class.

Rosie, a young girl, spends the episode focused on a white cat named Gatita. Set mostly in and around her family home, she makes a plan to care for the cat and works through the problems that come up, such as a mess the cat leaves in a home office, with help from her father, grandmother and a family friend. Spanish words appear naturally alongside English throughout. The story wraps up with the situation resolved before the closing credits.

Dot decides that love and thought matter more than the size of a gift and plans more films for the rest of the family.

Muffy, who is used to buying whatever she wants, works through a chain of trades to get a sought-after wrestler figure and finally learns to barter by organising Brain's baseball card collection. Along the way Buster trades jokes for food, Mr. Ratburn revives his old puppets to earn meals, and Francine resists spending a birthday gift. The class returns to school having found they are valuable even without money, and several decide to start saving.

Binky, a member of the Tough Customers, is mortified when his classmate George spots him holding his mom's hand at the mall. Afraid of being called a baby, he tries to keep it secret by silencing and bribing George, while Molly and Rattles dig for clues. After a clarinet recital, Binky decides he loves his mom and will hold her hand no matter what, and his friends shrug it off as nothing unusual. He happily chooses a family dinner over a night out with his friends.
