Gratitude

Gratitude is one of the earliest ways children learn to notice what others do for them. For young children it starts small: seeing a helping hand, feeling glad about it, and finding a way to say so. A calm series can show that noticing happening in ordinary moments, giving children words and gestures they can borrow in their own day.

For 2-year-olds

At two, gratitude is still mostly a warm feeling and a copied word. Your child is learning that someone hands them a cup, holds a door, or fixes a broken toy, and that a small 'thank you' belongs to that moment. Look for a series with slow scenes and clear cause and effect, where the giving and the thanks happen close together and are said out loud. Repeated phrases and familiar routines help the words stick long before the idea does.

For 3-year-olds

Three-year-olds begin to connect the help they receive to the person who gave it. They can name who shared the snack or who carried the bag, and they enjoy giving something back. A series that lingers on the helper's face, shows the pleasure of being thanked, and lets characters make or offer something in return gives your child a model to imitate. Gentle stories about friends and family work better here than lessons about being polite.

For 4-year-olds
