Learning from mistakes
Learning from mistakes is about what happens after something goes wrong: the spilled cup, the tower that falls, the friend who gets upset. Young children need to see that a mistake is information, not a verdict, and that most things can be tried again. A calm, well-made series can show that whole arc, the wobble, the feeling, the repair, at a speed a child can actually follow.
For 2-year-olds
At two, a mistake is mostly a surprise: the block tower collapses, the juice tips over. Children this age do not yet separate 'I did something wrong' from 'I am wrong', so what helps is a warm adult voice that stays steady and simply helps fix it. Look for slow, repetitive stories where the accident is small, the reaction is calm, and the child character tries again straight away. Long pauses matter here, they give a toddler time to notice what happened.

For 3-year-olds
Three-year-olds start to see themselves as the cause, and that brings real feelings: frustration, embarrassment, a sudden 'no'. This is the age of trial and error in play, so a series that lets a character get something wrong, feel it, and then have a grown-up name the feeling gives a child words for their own moments. Look for stories where the repair is visible: saying sorry, wiping it up, asking for help. Avoid anything that turns the mistake into a joke at the character's expense.

For 4-year-olds
By four, children can hold a simple plan in mind, so mistakes become interesting rather than only upsetting. They can follow a character who tries something, sees it fail, and thinks about why before trying differently. Look for stories that show the middle part, the rethinking, instead of jumping straight to a solved ending. This is also the age where fairness lands: a character owning up on their own carries more weight than being caught.

At six, children can reflect on a mistake after the fact and consider what they would do differently. They notice consequences that stretch beyond the moment: a broken promise, a friendship that needs mending, a plan that has to be rebuilt from scratch.
