Sibling relationship
A brother or sister is often a child's first daily lesson in another person: someone to love, copy, compete with and forgive, all before breakfast. Series about siblings give children words and pictures for feelings they cannot yet explain, from jealousy over a parent's lap to the pleasure of being on the same team. Calm, well-made stories let those moments land without noise or cruelty.
For 2-year-olds
At two, a sibling is mostly a body in the same room: someone who takes the toy, gets the lap, makes the noise. Feelings run big and language runs short, so 'mine' does a lot of work. A series helps most at this age when it stays close to one small everyday moment, names what a child is feeling in plain words, and keeps a familiar adult nearby to help. Repetition is a feature here, not a flaw.

For 3-year-olds
Three-year-olds start noticing that the other child wants things too, though wanting still wins most of the time. Turn taking, waiting and sharing are being practised rather than mastered, and jealousy over attention is common. Look for stories where a small conflict actually happens and is sorted out within the episode, where nobody is cast as the bad one, and where an adult supports instead of settling everything. Copying an older sibling is normal fascination at this age.

For 4-year-olds
Fairness arrives with force around four, usually as 'that's not fair' plus careful accounting of who got what. Pretend play with a sibling turns into real collaboration: roles, rules, and arguments about both. The most useful stories let siblings invent a game together, hit a snag, and repair it themselves, with the mess left visible for a moment before it is fixed. Check that teasing is not staged as the joke of the episode.

For 5-year-olds
By five, children compare themselves to a sibling and know exactly who is better at what. That brings pride, rivalry, and the first real teaming up against a shared problem or a shared grown-up rule. Moments where an older child chooses to include a younger one, rather than being told to, carry real weight.
