Delivery
Delivery is one of the first jobs young children notice in the world around them. Something is picked up, carried across town and handed to the person waiting for it, and a child gets to follow that whole trip from start to finish. A calm series about delivering gives children a clear beginning, middle and end, and quietly shows what it means to be counted on by someone else.
For 2-year-olds
At two, delivery is mostly about things appearing and disappearing. A parcel goes into a van, the van drives off, and the parcel comes back out at the door, which answers a question toddlers are working on constantly: where did it go. Look for a series with slow, repeated arrival moments, a driver or carrier a child can point at, and plenty of naming of everyday objects. Simple sound and movement, one thing happening at a time.

On a sunny farm, a small blue truck named Otis spends tune-up day getting his tires filled and gears tightened along with his vehicle friends. His friend Kevin, a large truck, is too scared to take his first tune-up and keeps putting it off until his engine gives out. Otis stays with Kevin, helps load grain, winches him to the farmhouse when he breaks down, and offers to take his own turn first so Kevin can see what it is like. Kevin finally gets his tune-up from Farmer Naomi and rolls off proud of how he feels.
For 3-year-olds
Three-year-olds start following the route itself. They can hold on to the idea that someone is waiting at the other end, and that the trip has steps: load up, drive, knock, hand it over. This is the age where helping becomes appealing, so stories where a small character carries something to a friend land well. Look for a clear order of events, one small hiccup on the way, and a satisfying handover at the end.

Three wombat siblings set out to make a special delivery across the giant tree where they live. They sketch a route on a map, compare two paths, then test their plan by sliding, swinging and climbing through the branches, watching what goes wrong and changing course along the way. Neighbours greet them as each item arrives. By the end the wombats reach their goal by breaking the job into steps and adjusting when something does not work.
For 4-year-olds
By four, a child can see delivery as work with a plan behind it. They understand that the right thing has to reach the right person, that a wrong address or a broken package is a problem to solve, and that two people working together get it done faster. Stories that show sorting, choosing a route or checking a list give real thinking material. Look for problems solved by the characters themselves rather than by an adult stepping in.

For 5-year-olds
Five-year-olds can hold the whole chain in mind: someone made it, someone packed it, someone carries it, someone opens it. They are interested in reliability, in promises kept, and in what it feels like for the person on the receiving end. Stories with a changed plan, bad weather or a tight deadline let them think about priorities and fairness. Look for a bit more plot, a character who takes responsibility, and room for a child to predict what happens next.
