Cake Bake

On the morning of Duck's birthday, Sarah decides to bake him a cake. After Duck picks an unusual 'bread cake' from the recipe book, Sarah gathers ingredients and starts mixing, only for batter to ruin the open recipe. The cake itself speaks up and dictates the remaining steps while a parcel arrives from Sarah's grandmother containing roller skates for Duck. Once baked, Sarah, Duck and the talking cake head to the park, where everyone sings a birthday song together.

Cheer Up Donkey

Sarah and Duck are looking after Donkey in the back garden while Scarf Lady is at the shops, and Donkey appears sad. Sarah tries a carrot, music on her tuber and a trip to the bread shop, but nothing changes his face. They visit the library, find a book about donkeys and learn that donkeys naturally look sad even when they are happy. After a walk in the park, Duck reveals he was upset because Sarah had buried his bread for him, and Scarf Lady returns to collect a contented Donkey.

A Song for Lola

Molly helps her friend create a special song to honor her grandmother, Lola Miranda, who is returning to their Alaskan village from the Philippines. Following an Alaska Native tradition explained by Grandpa Nat, the children secretly gather family stories, then worry the funny ones are not serious enough for a gifted song. They learn that a song should match the person it honors, so a cheerful Lola deserves a cheerful song. At the welcome-back dinner they perform it, and Lola calls it the best gift she has ever received.

Fireworks

Bing is excited to watch fireworks from his garden with Flop, while friends Pando, Coco and Charlie play nearby. Sula arrives wearing earmuffs because she does not like the bangs, and Bing insists he is brave enough to go outside. When a huge rocket bangs overhead Bing races back in and hides under the kitchen table, upset by the noise. Flop adapts a pair of oven mitts into 'ear gloves' so Bing can step back to the window and enjoy the rest of the fireworks safely, and Bing recaps the lesson to the viewer at the end.

3, 2, 1 Liftoff!

Lyla, a girl who solves problems step by step with her blue companion Stu, joins a classroom project to build model spaceships with a partner. She teams up with Joey, a new boy, on a water-powered rocket, but Joey keeps going quiet and slipping away whenever the group gets big. Over two days Lyla realizes Joey feels shy in crowds, and she finds ways to include him one person at a time while they work out why their rocket won't fly. The episode ends at the park, where they seal a leak in the bottle and launch their spaceship together with the whole class.

Her mum comforts her with the idea that special people sometimes come for a while and then leave, and the seed they planted grows into a small tree.

The Scents of Spring

Little Nutbrown Hare wakes on the first morning of spring and notices a special new smell in the meadow. He sets out with Little Field Mouse to find its source, smelling hyacinths, bluebells and orange blossom, and exploring the woods and creek, but nothing is quite right. That night he goes to bed disappointed, comforted by Big Nutbrown Hare. The next morning he realises the special smell is all the scents of springtime rolled into one, and the two hares end with their 'Guess how much I love you' exchange.

Gaston the Ladybird

Ben the elf and Holly the fairy princess play with their friend Gaston the ladybird, riding on his back and watching him roll over. The next day Gaston will not come out, so they ask Nanny Plum for help and visit his cave. The friends realise Gaston loved his home just as it was, and they happily put back the cobwebs, smelly socks and dirt before running off to play again.

Silky's New Friend

On the Irish island of Puffin Rock, the seal pup Silky is thrilled about her new friend Clementine, who turns out to be a small clam. Her puffin friend Oona doubts what makes an ordinary clam special, but when Clementine disappears in the ocean the two search the coral reef together. Along the way they learn how clams bury themselves in the sand to escape seagulls, and Oona comes to see the clam's cleverness. They find Clementine and introduce her to Bernie and baby Baba, ending on the idea that even the smallest creatures can be amazing.

The Walrus Chief

Peso, the Octonauts' penguin medic, loses his medical bag in Arctic waters when a walrus mistakes it for a clam. Captain Barnacles and Kwazii put on a two-person walrus costume to sneak into the walrus colony, learning their customs along the way. They eventually meet the chief, who has the bag and is also nursing a twisted flipper that has kept him from hunting. Peso treats the injury, the chief returns the bag, and the colony makes the Octonauts honorary walruses.

Fly a Kite

Duck and Goose, two friends in a grassy meadow, decide to build and fly a kite after the wind carries off a hat. They gather paper, vines, sticks, a rubber ball, tree sap and the hat, build the kite, and take turns trying to launch it. Setbacks pile up, including a loose knot and the wind dying down, but they keep trying. The kite finally flies when they combine Goose running into the wind with Duck's bouncing ball, and they end up flying it happily together.

Twinkle Toes

Harvey, a dog, wants to learn the dance that Ginger the cat calls 'phenomenal,' but his wagging tail, floppy ears and short jumps make him fall every time, while friends like Robin and Jack manage it easily. Discouraged, Harvey walks off, and Fins the fish finds him and explains that everyone's body moves in its own way. After a song about different kinds of bodies, Harvey returns and shows off a new dance of his own. The episode ends with him thanking Fins, followed by two short songs.
