Mazu, the clever dinosaur, must get a rare dragonfly back from a pair of raptors who will only trade it for a scale from the giant Giganto. She invents plan after plan to peel a scale, and each one fails, from a vine-and-rock cutter to a gentle grabber. Encouraged by her friends Rocky, Bill and Tiny to keep trying and to use her head, she finally realises she can outsmart the raptors with a trap instead. The dragonfly is freed, her eggs hatch safely, and a loose scale drifts down to Mazu at the end.

Four young dinosaur friends find a lost egg with no nest during a game of tag in the jungle. Instead of leaving it, they carry it carefully and spend the day asking every creature they meet whether the egg is theirs, meeting a mammal, other dinosaurs and even the towering Giganto along the way.
