Emotional support
Emotional support is about a child learning that big feelings can be named, shared and carried together. Series that do this well show a character who is upset, frightened or frustrated, and someone who stays close until the feeling settles. Watching that pattern gives children words and examples they can borrow when their own moment comes.
For 2-year-olds
At two, feelings arrive fast and whole, with almost no words attached. What helps most is simply seeing that comfort follows distress: a hug, a soft voice, a return to calm. Look for a slow pace, one clear feeling per story and an adult or older friend who responds without fuss. Long, quiet moments after the upset matter more at this age than any explanation.

For 3-year-olds
Three-year-olds are starting to name feelings, though the words often arrive after the storm. Stories that say the feeling out loud, sad, scared, cross, give a child language to reach for later. Songs and repeated phrases about calming down are useful here, because a three-year-old will actually reuse them. Look for characters whose upset is taken seriously rather than distracted away.
