Kindness to animals
Kindness to animals starts small: noticing that a creature is alive, has needs, and can feel. For young children, animals are often their first encounter with something outside themselves that deserves care. A calm, well-made series can show what gentle hands, patience and quiet attention look like, long before a child can put those ideas into words.
For 2-year-olds
At two, animals are mostly a sensory discovery: soft fur, a wagging tail, a sound to imitate. A toddler is only just learning that a cat is not a toy and that touching too hard makes it run away. Look for slow, close-up moments where someone strokes an animal gently, feeds it, or gives it space. Simple words, familiar animals and a quiet pace matter more here than any story about caring.

For 3-year-olds
Three-year-olds begin to grasp that animals have their own wishes: they get hungry, tired, or frightened. This is the age of naming feelings and repeating small routines, so daily care (filling a bowl, checking on a nest, saying goodnight to a pet) lands well. Series that pause on an animal's reaction help a child connect their own behaviour to what the animal does next. Gentle curiosity about where animals live also starts here.
