The episode is built around a rival, Bobby, who spends most of it scheming to wreck the heroes' sandcastle, a clear hero-versus-rival shape that only softens at the very end when the pups help him and both teams win. The invented machinery follows consistent, predictable rules throughout. For the youngest viewers the fantasy and competitive conflict run a little ahead of what suits this age.

For the grown-up in the room, this plays as pleasant but unremarkable company.
