Exploring
Exploring is what happens when a child follows their own curiosity: turning over a rock, opening a cupboard, asking where the path goes. Series built around this show a character noticing something, wondering about it, and going to find out. When the pace is calm enough to let a child look along, that habit of paying attention carries straight over into their own days.
For 2-year-olds
At two, exploring is mostly physical and close to home. A toddler wants to touch, carry, drop and open things, and the whole world of interest fits inside the house, the garden and the walk to the shops. Look for a series that stays with one small discovery at a time and holds the camera long enough for a two-year-old to take it in. Familiar settings help more than exotic ones here, because the pleasure comes from recognising something they have also seen.

For 3-year-olds
Three-year-olds start asking why, and exploring becomes a question with an answer at the end of it. They can follow a simple search: something is missing, someone goes looking, they find it. Look for a series where a small adventure has a clear beginning and a satisfying close, and where the character does the looking rather than being told. Nature is a natural fit at this age, since a beetle or a rock pool is genuinely new to them.

For 4-year-olds
By four, a child can hold a plan in their head while carrying it out. Exploring turns into wondering what would happen if, then trying it. Look for a series that lets a character make a guess, test it, and be wrong without any fuss about it, because that is the part that builds confidence. Stories that move outside familiar surroundings work well now, as long as the child still recognises the feelings involved.
