The developmental payoff is strongest socially: the episode turns on a genuinely useful idea, that close friends can care about different things and do not have to share every activity, and it earns that lesson through Pinecone's apology and the easy split at the end. Real-world hooks like caring for a living creature and tracking it by where it likes to go give a child something recognizable to hold onto. The limitation is that the world itself, a glowing lunar butterfly, a spell-casting mentor, a talking pony, keeps most of the on-screen actions from transferring directly into a child's own day.
