This program is stimulating. It actively demands attention and can feel intense. For the recommended age, this may be on the more intense side. The pacing is fast. Images follow each other quickly, leaving little time to pause and take in what is happening. The sound is soft and supportive. The visuals are calm and well-organized.
One question carries the whole episode: who or what is scaring everyone before the flower moon party. Events follow each other in a clear order, from setting up decorations, to the first strange noises, to following the missing lanterns, to the moment Kiya spots footprints and works out that a ghost would not leave any. Cause and effect hold up well, and Kiya's private worry about being called a scaredy cat runs alongside the mystery rather than competing with it. The heroes' powers, gadgets and code names do pile a lot of new detail into the opening stretch before the actual mystery gets going.
Fear is the subject of this episode, and it is felt loudly: characters scream, run, shout for help, and one calls out for mommy when the second ghost appears. That intensity returns often, and the switches from panic back to jokes come quickly. Against that, the emotional handling is genuinely good. Jay tells Kiya 'it's okay to be scared' and 'I get scared all the time', Motsie adds that friends help you conquer your fear, Kiya faces the ghost saying 'I am brave because we are brave', and Jay ends by apologising for teasing her about ghosts in the first place.
The three friends decide for themselves to go looking, and they work the mystery in visible steps: check the reserve, fly up to spot the moving lanterns, follow them, search the ruins, then read the evidence. The best moment is Kiya's reasoning out loud, 'Ghosts don't leave footprints, but someone left these,' which leads straight to naming Acrobrat. Kiya also solves her own problem by admitting the fear she has been hiding and then choosing to face it. The caveat is that several obstacles are cleared by superpowers and gadgets rather than by thinking, which does less for the sense of a worked-out solution.
The dialogue is clear and mostly in full sentences, with vocabulary a four to six year old can follow: lanterns, nature reserve, footprints, evidence. Some richer words arrive with enough context to guess at them, as when Motsie announces her 'ectoplasmic ghost detector' while waving it around, and the conversation about being scared is plainly worded and easy to hold on to. Set against that, a fair share of the talk is exclamation rather than content: hero call-outs, power names, and a lot of shouting during the chase scenes carry little meaning on their own.
The social side is the strongest part: hiding a fear to avoid being teased, a friend admitting he gets scared too, and an apology at the end are all situations a young child recognises. Party preparations, loading boxes into a van, hanging lanterns and practising dance steps also connect to real life. But most of the running time is spent on things that cannot cross over into a child's day, since problems are met with flying, crystal powers and a dance ninja baton rather than with anything a child could copy. The fantasy stays internally consistent, so the world makes sense on its own terms, it just offers little to take off the screen.

More information

This score shows how inclusively the series portrays diverse people, families and cultures. Scale: Limited → Varied → Rich → Inclusive.
The episode is set in a lively African city where nearly everyone on screen is Black, with a wide range of skin tones, hairstyles and clothing, and one friend, Zane, who reads as East Asian. Children, parents and older neighbours all take part in the same flower moon celebration, so different ages share the story rather than staying in the background. Tasks and feelings are spread evenly: Kiya leads the team but is the one who admits she is frightened, Motsie brings the science and gadgets, Jay says out loud that he gets scared all the time, and Kiya's dad handles the food while MC Harmony organises the party. What is missing is variety in bodies and abilities, and family life is only sketched through one parent at a time.
This score shows whether the series stays close to everyday reality or leans into fantasy. Scale: Fantasy → Mixed reality → Realistic.
The everyday side of this episode is easy to recognise: friends preparing a spring party, a dance lesson at home, lanterns strung up for the evening, and a girl who is embarrassed to admit she is frightened after watching a scary movie. Around that sits a full superhero layer, with a transformation sequence, crystal powers, flying and skating chases, and a costumed troublemaker named Acrobrat who stages a fake haunting. The powers and gadgets follow steady rules and the supposed ghost gets a plain explanation, so the imagined parts hold together. Still, the good-against-bad framing and the night-time scare plot make this a busier, more fantastical mix than the youngest children in this age band will fully sort out.
This score shows how enjoyable the series is for parents watching along. Scale: Tedious → Tolerable → Pleasant → Enjoyable.
You will not be bored on the couch, but you will not be quoting this one back to friends either. The ghost mystery has a real spine: a spooky prank, a clue that does not add up, a reveal, and a second scare that turns out to be a friendly elephant, so an adult half-watching can still follow the thread. The craft is the standout, with a warm Pomoja City by day, a genuinely lovely moonlit nature reserve at night, and glowing paint effects that look designed rather than dashed off. The catch is volume: vuvuzelas, transformation fanfare and a long stretch of shouting mean this is not quiet-room viewing.
