Social theme
Friendship
Friendship is one of the first big social projects of early childhood: noticing another child, wanting to be near them, and slowly learning how to share a game without it falling apart. A calm, well-made series gives children a chance to watch these moments unfold at a speed they can follow. Seeing a character hesitate, make up, or try again gives them words and pictures for feelings they are still sorting out.
For 2-year-olds
At two, friendship is mostly about being near someone and copying what they do. Real sharing is still hard, and most play happens side by side rather than together. Look for a series with a small, familiar circle of characters, simple situations, and plenty of repetition, so your child recognises the same faces and routines each time. Warm, ordinary moments (a greeting, a hug, giving a toy back) land better at this age than any storyline about conflict.

For 3-year-olds
Three-year-olds start to genuinely play together, which also means the first collisions: who goes first, whose turn it is, who gets the red one. They feel strongly and recover quickly. A good series at this stage shows a small friction, names the feeling out loud, and then shows the repair, all within one short story. Watch for characters who apologise or try again on their own, rather than adults smoothing everything over immediately.
