Social theme
Teamwork
Teamwork is what happens when children stop working beside each other and start working with each other: handing over a tool, waiting for a turn, agreeing on who does what. It is one of the harder social skills of the early years, and most of it is learned by watching it happen. A calm, well made series can show that process slowly enough for a child to follow, including the awkward middle part where someone disagrees and the group has to sort it out.
For 2-year-olds
At two, teamwork mostly looks like helping. A toddler will carry something to someone, hold one end of a blanket, or copy what an adult is doing, but taking turns is still mostly out of reach. Look for a series that keeps the shared task tiny and visible, one object passed between two characters, one job finished together, repeated often enough to recognise. Slow pacing matters here, because a toddler needs time to see who is doing what.

For 3-year-olds
Three year olds start to genuinely cooperate, and that is also when the friction begins. Two children want the same shovel, or one wants to build and the other wants to knock down. What helps at this age is seeing characters say out loud what they want and what they need, and hearing a grown up or an older friend name the feelings involved. Look for stories where a small disagreement is worked through rather than skipped over, and where the repair is as visible as the argument.

For 5-year-olds
Five year olds can hold a shared goal across a longer stretch of time, which means they meet compromise properly for the first time. Their own idea has to make room for someone else's, and that is genuinely hard. Helpful stories give a group a real problem, let a first attempt fail, and show them listening to the quieter suggestion. It also helps to see the difference between leading a group and telling everyone what to do, since that line is exactly what children are testing at this age.
